Why I want to be a teacher

Anchor 1

It was a lifelong dream of mine to teach, it was my calling. As an individual, I have always pictured myself mentoring and guiding young students. Dedication and hard work is my main ingredient to success in taking my students to their destination. People sometimes ask me for help, and that actually pushed me to take the path of education. The love of learning and growing into a mature apple, having the confidence that I know something that most people do not. I am willing to give my one hundred percent in order to help children with their needs, whether it's for social, emotional and financial support. I will do my best to give my students the highest quality of education that they can have.

The first choice that I had was Physical Education, throughout the year; I realized how much I wanted to teach little children. I always loved watching them play, run around, and most importantly I feel delighted when I see that they are eager to learn as well. To teach them how to read, write, and count is one of the most important foundation a teacher must be able to give his/her students. It's not only the technical aspects, but I also want my students to develop a sense of respect for themselves and towards their friends and family.

Looking at the development of children ages 3-5, they mostly enjoy getting rewards. In order for me to make them learn and follow my rules, a reward system is handy. The most recent tool that I use for rewards were stickers, and they work all the time. There will be students who are unable to speak out. If students are not comfortable with speaking, then they can whisper to me the things that they want their classmates to hear and so he/she can still communicate with others.

When it comes to rules, making the kids help is also one of the most effective ways of implementing it. I believe that the more engaged they are in class the better they are in learning. Using hand gestures like putting one finger on your lip means “be quiet” by then they can associate that action with the rule.

Measuring effectiveness is part of our job as future educators. It is not only the student that we should evaluate, but also ourselves. I believe that a teacher can measure his/her effectiveness through the reaction of the children and if we see a gradual change in behavior. Giving them materials like picture books to read or to interpret can help develop their cognitive skills, and prepare them for the next level of learning. If they fail to read a book then I can separate the class into groups to have a mini “reading” session. I can be their guide to a better learning.

I believe that Children deserve to have the highest quality education that can be provided to them I also believe that Early Childhood educators have one of the most important jobs that exist because they are preparing Children in the world of learning. I believe that everyone is capable of learning as long as they accept the knowledge that is pass down to the next generation.
